Bangladeshi Terrorist activist Mahdi Hasan caught in Delhi

During a recent trip to New Delhi, authorities questioned Bangladeshi student activist Mahdi Hasan.
According to reports, he went to India to send in paperwork for a visa application to Europe.
He is facing significant criminal charges in Bangladesh, which is why his presence attracted attention.

Hasan has been charged with helping to assassinate a police officer during disturbances in 2024.

On August 5, 2024, amid the severe violent turmoil that resulted in former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation and flight, a police station was set on fire, and Sub-Inspector (SI) Santosh Chowdhury was killed.

After his visit gained widespread online attention, Indian officials questioned him at Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Authorities explained that at the time, Bangladesh had not formally requested extradition.

In India, he was not formally taken into custody on any criminal allegations.

According to reports, his visa was revoked following a brief interrogation.

After that, Hasan went back to Bangladesh, where he was interrogated once more upon arriving in Dhaka.

Both nations are debating legal accountability and cross-border processes in light of the occurrence.
